Set between sprawling farmland and the converted remains of a small hamlet,
it has been beautifully
restored, the interior design inspired by nature,
and thoughtfully equipped with everything you could want for a relaxing and nature inspired holiday.

We have fully equipped the cottage to cater to most needs, so you can come away with minimal packing!
The Old Smithy Country Retreat is a 2 bedroom House with 2 gardens, including:
A private, enclosed patio garden with table and chairs, bird feeders and bird bath, and various edible plants to enjoy. Outdoor lighting and gate for easy walk access.
A Fenced, lawned garden with raised bench to enjoy the views, birds and fresh air. Rotary washing line, 4 bike stand, metal dog waste bin and outdoor lighting, adjoining the driveway.
*Well, we try VERY hard to!
An entrance hall with restored Chapel pew, coat hooks, and supplies for dogs (bowls, waste bags, pet towels and washing basket and pet cleaning spray). A plastic dog bed and dog blankets can also be provided.
A convenient downstairs shower room with electric shower, WC and basin is located just off the entrance hall.
A spacious kitchen with dining area, seating 5, includes a wide range of cooking supplies for your holiday needs, including salt and pepper, oils, towels and a myriad of cookware and serve ware. A dishwasher, coffee machine (with pods to welcome you), electric oven, grill and hob, hand blender, chopper, toaster and kettle enable basic and more advanced cooking needs. Other equipment is provided in the Utility space.
A Utility wing joins the kitchen and comprises a tall fridge freezer, microwave, iron and ironing board, vacuum cleaner, compact washing machine, basket and pegs and a welcome amount of non-bio washing powder. The cupboard houses cleaning equipment for use throughout your stay.
A large sitting room with original tiled floor, comfy sofa and chairs, restored fireplace and bread oven, woodburner with complimentary logs and fire equipment, large TV with some subscription services included, blankets to snuggle up with, and a ‘tourist table’ giving much inspiration for those wanting to explore nature further afield, or a more active break, as well as maps, and walk ideas from the cottage.
A modern bathroom includes a large shower with sky light, bath with handles and wooden decorative bath tray for a book, as well as the expected amenities, plus hair/body/hand wash, soft white towels and toilet roll to ensure you can leave most things at home! 2 heated towel rails and extractor fan, vanity unit and mirrored cabinet complete the room well.
Double bedroom, with bespoke handcrafted oak wardrobe, vanity area, dual aspect to enjoy the stunning views and binoculars to take in the beauty and nature that envelops the cottage, and inspired the design of the room, and glimpses of the 1780's original structure and wide plank floorboards. Side lamps, hot water bottles, emergency torch, hairdryer, extra pillows and blanket complete the relaxing room. Pets are not allowed upstairs.
Twin bedroom, with soft carpet underfoot, generous built in wardrobe, desk area with lamp, ethernet connection and power. Side lamps, hot water bottles and emergency torches, as well as a hairdryer and extra pillows cover most needs. A travel cot is also available. Dual aspect with bright, cosy décor. Binoculars enhance the view experience and opportunities to spot and enjoy the large array of farm animals (the lambs in spring are a joy!) and birds, including red kites, owls, birds of prey, garden birds and pheasants, amongst others. Pets are not allowed upstairs.
